Overview: The Flail was designed at firs to be a heavy attack VTOL and to provied cover fire for light mechs. Once the design was commision however the aircraft took on another roll. Garrision duty for this VTOL has spread like wild fire. Capabilities: The Aircrafts heavy armor alow it to stay up were most other VTOLs fall short. But it comes at a cost of payload. The relativly small amout of ammunition carried by the Flail only gives it enough power for short engagement before more than half its weapons are exsauted. Many Flail flight crews druing garrison duty were able to land and have ammo bins refilled multiple times before haveing to ditch or pull out of a fight, due to lack of armor protection. The nose mounted Twin ER medium lasers alow the Flail to operate away from supply lines, but when supply is not a strong issue these lasers are backed up but the two nose mounted Lrm5's. These four weapons alone on the aircraft give it considerable power. Adding to the crafts payload are two M-guns mounted oneither side of the craft. these alow the Flail to provied cover fire for infantry. |
