Hollis Inc, being a large producer of fire support units and missile systems, designed and produces the Black Mamba Fire Support VTOL. Designed to broaden their selection of hardware, the Black Mamba naturaly competes with the Yellow Jacket gunship. Capabilities: While slow for a VTOL, the Black Mamba can outrun most battlemechs it encounters. Staying with the inexpensive ICE rather than a fusion engine, the Black Mamba can be purchased by any major military unit. Its twin Holly LRM 15 racks can deal tremendus ammounts of damage at long range, and can be fired indirectly at enemy units, keeping the vulnerable rotors out of harms way. When coming under fire, the Black Mamba carries some of the heaviest armor ever placed on a VTOL unit and enables it to withstand a direct hit from an AC/20 without falling. Also, using the same sidway's ejection system that is used on the Catapult, a pilot can eject from the Black Mamba. Deployment: While not intentional, the Black Mamba has competed with the Yellow Jacket gunship for its place in the market. The Black Mamba has also been employed heavily in the capellan confederation and has seen action in the chaos march. |
