Designed to fill the role of a meduim scout vehicle, the Tennyson Medium Hover Tank manages to meet these requirements with bravado. With a high speed and mounted with long range weapons, the Tennyson has the ability to find the enemy quickly, engage at long range if needed and get this vital information back to command as soon as possible.   This design is obviously not meant to go head to head against mechs, but is very effective against soft targets at long ranges. Using a mixture of light Autocannons and a Large Laser, this weapons platform can cause disruption at range without exposing itself to too much risk. If an enemy mech should somehow get too close for comfort, two one shot SRM2 Inferno launchers mounted on the turret can convince the enemy to think twice before trying to follow the Tennyson back to its home base.

As this was a new design for GM there were several initial problems to be surmounted during the design and testing phases. One of the worst problems to be found was that due to the high powered engine in the Tennyson it had a tendency to "bunny hop" off of low obstructions, which lead to the addition of a front wing to hold the vehicle down at high speeds. This wing is adjustable by the driver, thus allowing if needed the ability to jump quite a distance when running at flank speed, although this is not reccomended by GM itself, in combat it has been proven to be an effective way to rescue the crew from extreme danger (although in most cases the vehicle itself ended up being damaged beyond repair) and has been implemented with a special safety switch to be used by the vehicle commander if such a drastic measure be needed. Other minor flaws have been noted in the design, such as the tendency to suck in foreign objects through the front mounted intakes, but this has been somewhat aleviated by the use of cut-outs under the vehicle (although this has reduced damage to the engines, many small animals have still suffered from the trip through the cut outs, which has lead to some protest by animal protection groups, but has been also considered to be an acceptable problem since all other solutions resulted in a decrease in speed)

The Tennyson can be found throughout the Federated Suns, predominately in units which are considered to be Amored Cavalry. One shipment of these vehicles (approx. 25) was also apparently stolen by Pirates, but the location and use of these stolen vehicles is not known.
