The OL-5TC Olympian is an advanced medium tank in the service of the Taurian Concordat. The vehicle is fast, manueverable, and well armed. This well balanced design entered service in late 3062, when full production began at Akula Corporate Engineering's Landsmark factory. Capabilities: The Olympian is powered by a GM 250 Fusion Engine that gives a top speed of just over 86 kph. The engine is rugged and reliable, and produces enough power to allow for a heavy laser main armament. To date, no problems have been encountered with the Olypian's power plant. Armor protection for the Olypian is only average for a vehicle its size. The Olympian carries 7.5 tons of Durallex Super Medium Ferro Fibrous armor, which can take slightly more damage than standard armor types. The Olympian also utilizes a CASE system to increase crew survivability in the event of a catastrophic ammunition explosion. The armament of the Olympian is a standard mix of missles, lasers and ballistics. This combination does give the best all-around capability however, and is found on countless designs through-out the Inner Sphere. The main armament is a turret mounted Martell Extended Range Large Laser, also mounted atop the turret are a pair of Shannon Fore SRM4 systems. Rounding out the Olympians armament is a pair of brow mounted Voelkers 200 Machine Guns. Deployment: Olympians are deployed only in the Taurian Concordat. Used in garrison units, assault battalions, or in lances to achieve mission specific goals, the Olypian is a well rounded design. |
