Overview:

Bomis Innovations has a considerably growing reputation as an up and coming enterprise in the Federated Suns. A huge distributor of media software and hardware they have earned great distinction for creating technology that is on par or rivals that of the Star League era tech without the aid of Comstar.

This home grown company exploded on the market with everything from cost effective holo-projectors, to sonic to light wave conversion equipment, and to self evolving AI help-masters.

Their first logical step in expanding beyond their current market was to form Bomis Light and Magic. Desiring to fill the need of a select group of moviegoers displeased at the deteriation and lack of responsibility of the movie and music industry has created supposedly not for profit movies that push at the creative boundries of today or supplement style with substance instead of just using style while adding little in the way of substance.

Director Steven Sodenburgh and writers Jerry Sholack and Namia Loren earned critical praise and backlash for B.L.M with the hit blockbuster “Blood Brothers.” A story on a Lyran officer who is captured by the hated Jade Falcons and becomes a bondsman of a warrior who is related directly by blood to him. The backlash given by came in how the story depicted the clanner’s way of life and philosophy as something positive and insinuated that the clan invasion may have been a good thing for the Innersphere. Thinkers and the common man among the Fedcom had strong opinions on this movie. No word yet has been acquired on how any, of the hard to contact, clanners feel about their portrayal in the movie or how the movie in turn presents the point that while the invasion may have created some good the clans actions were ultimately foolhardy and somewhat unwarranted.

Their second and latest subsidiary branches out into the weapons arms market. Bomis Industrial Path is hoped to become a leading arms contributor to the Federated Commonwealth by providing easy to make and repair machines to help boost the second string forces of the FedCom who have less of chance of getting the more expensive grade of war machines.

Their first foray was the ACM-L1 Roadrunner, a highly durable light mech with exceptional quick strike capabilities.

Their second mech was the medium GLN-5-DF Gremlin. This mech follows in the footsteps of the venerable Wolf Dragoon’s Yoruba in being a heavy mech that fills the roll of an assault mech by being a medium that fills the role of being a heavy mech.

Their latest design, the Xerxes, is a remarkable piece of hardware designed as a mid range brawler. To be a mid ranged fighter it has to bring to bear a blistering barrage of short ranged specialists with a range profile that can compete variably with long ranged fighters.

Capabilities:

Weighing in at 65 tons the Xerxes is a very simplistic design that avoids the usage of an endosteel frame because B.I.P. doesn’t have the facilities to make endosteel. It uses a 240 Daewoo engine, which is pretty cheap in comparison to most 240 grade engines but maintains a level of integrity that meets battle standards. To also help save on costs the Xerxes utilizes gear and components that are compatible with a lot of mechs dating back 2950.

Its weapons array consists of twin Johnston Parti Cannons and a Mydron Supreme Rotary AC 5.

While the most sophisticated piece of new hardware usually comes from the rotary ac BIP has created limited edition variants for company commanders and greater. This Xerxes is encased a ferrofibrous frame and uses the saved tonnage to mount their proven variable range targeting computer. With it the commander can offset the range issues that come into play with his weapons systems to be a more effective combatant with all types of opponents.

Deployment

The Xerxes was completed within weeks of the start of the Fedcom civil war. Xerxes are being sold to unit like the 1st Araon Borders, 1st Capellan Dragoons, 1st Argyle Lancers, and the 7th and 8th Fedcom RCT.
