In 3055, the designers at Akula Corporate Engineering
were given a contract to produce a new light, fast scout
mech to replace the Commando in the service of the
AFFC. The design team eventually settled on the SKR-3D
Seeker. By utilizing new contruction materials and an XL
engine, the designers were able to make an advanced
scout design that weighed the same as the Commando.
Capabilities:
The Seeker is an agile, jump capable scout that is
capable of general scouting, artillery spotting, and
battlefield electronic warfare. Using an A.C.E. Type IA
Endo Steel chasis with a 175 rated Omni XL Fusion
reactor, the designers were able to install advanced
electronics such as a Kallon Sure-Shot C3-SU C3 slave
unit and a Garret/Gaurdian Interface Gaurdian ECM suite.
This gives the Seeker the ability to remain hidden, and
give the battlefield commander excellent up-to-date recon
information of the battlefield situation. The Seeker also
carries a Garret Mole TAG unit in its center torso. This
gives the seeker the ability to call in accurate artillery fire
support.
The Seeker is armed with 2 Blazefire Longshot Extended
Range Medium Lasers and a Defiance P5M Medium
Pulse Laser. These combined with the Seeker's 4 tons of
A.C.E. Type 1 Light armor makes the seeker a reliable
scout that can take care of itself in most situations. If the
Seeker should find itself in a situation that puts it in peril,
the pilot can simply open up the throttle and move back to
friendly lines at nearly 120 km/h.
Deployment:
Seekers are deployed with scout lances throughout the
AFFC. Most of the Seekers in service with the AFFC are
deployed along the frontier with the Jade Falcon
Occupational zone. As part of the deal with the
reformation of the Star League, Seekers are available to
all houses of the Inner Sphere, but few have been sold
outside the Federated Commonwealth, as the other Great
Houses have yet to realize the 'mechs full potential.
