In the year 3055, the leaders of the Federated 
Commonwealth submitted the design specifications for a 
new scout with similar capabilites to the Capellan Raven 
to Akula Corporate Engineering.  This 'mech was to 
replace the Commando on a 1 to 1 basis in the AFFC.  
This 'mech, later dubbed the Prowler, would give the 
AFFC the sophisticated electronic warfare support of the 
Raven combined with artillery spotting and C3 capabilities. 
Production began in 3058, and the 'mech continues to be 
produced at a steady pace.

Capabilities:

The Prowler carries some of the most sophisticated 
electronics equipment available to the Inner Sphere, 
which makes it an excellent scout and forward observer.  
Unlike the Raven, the Prowler is jump capable, and has a 
C3 slave to enhance battlefield capabilities.  Its Gaurdian 
ECM helps keep the Prowler safe while on scouting 
missions, and provides much needed sensor jamming 
capabilities when the Prowler is working with other mechs 
in a lance.  The right torso mounted Target Acquisition 
Gear gives the Prowler the ability to call in pinpoint 
accurate artillery strikes against enemy positions.

Deployment:

The Prowler is deployed with both Lyran and Davion loyal 
units of the AFFC.  The 'mech has also been provided to 
Federated Commonwealth loyal mercenary units, the most 
notable of which are the Kell Hounds.  A handfull of 
Prowlers were also provided to the SLDF for use during 
Operation Bulldog.
