Designed by Akula Corporate Engineering for the St. Ives
Compact in 3057, the Garnett is a medium weight garrison
mech with omni capabilities. Unfortuantely, the St.
Ives-Capellan War broke out before the first Garnett could
be delivered. This left A.C.E. in an unusual position. They
had 50 Garnetts ready for shipment, with no one to ship
them to. So, the board of directors decided to sell them on
the open market, a choice that would prove benficial for
the company. In the 3 years that the Garnett has been
produced, nearly 400 have been sold to the various
Houses, Periphery Kingdoms, and mercenary units of the
Inner Sphere.
Capabilities:
The Garnett is capable of fulfilling any role that a garrison
mech could be assigned. It's omni capabilities give it an
edge over other second line mechs in that it can change
its weapons configuration to fit the needs of the moment.
It has jump jets to give it added manueverability over that
provided by its VOX 225 fusion reactor. The Garnett has
a maximum speed of 86.4 KPH, and cruises at 54 KPH.
The Garnett does have a single rear firing Blazefire
Longshot Extended Range Medium Laser that is
hardwired into the base chasis, and this weapon's use is
often questioned.
Its primary configuration probably defines it best as a jack
of all trades, master of none. The Mydron Escel 5SG LB
5-X Autocannon gives the Garnett a decent long range
punch, and its 2 forward facing Blazefire Longshot
Extended Range Meium Lasers and Guided Technologies
Streak SRM2 give it a respectable medium and short
range ability.
The Alternate A configuration give hard hitting long range
firepower in the form of its Ripper Series A1 Extended
Range PPC and its Holly LRM10 launcher. This
configuration also carries an additional Blazefire Longshot
Extended Range Medium Laser as well as a Chriscomp
2000 Extended Range Small Laser. This is the most
effective and most numerous Garnett configuration.
For its Alternate B configuration, the Garnett has a variety
of weapons. These include a Blazefire Sweetshot
Extended Range Large Laser and an additional Blazefire
Longshot Extended Range Medium Laser. For short
range work, the designers included a Chriscomp 2000
Extended Range Small Laser, 2 Starflash Medium Pulse
Lasers, and a Holly SRM6 launcher.
The final configuration, Alternate C, is very similar to the
primary configuration. However, it carries an Imperator
Ultra Autocannon 5 as its main weapon. The autocannon
is supported by a Blazefire Longshot Extended Range
Medium Laser, a Chriscomp 2000 Extended Range Small
Laser, and a Holly Derringer SRM2 launcher. The SRM2
normally utilizes Inferno rounds in this configuration,
though it is not uncommon to see regular SRM ammo
substituted for the Inferno rounds.
Battle History:
While it has been in combat for some time now, the
Garnett has yet to produce an epic battle. Serving it's role
a a garrison 'mech with dignity, the Garnett defends the
homes of the Inner Sphere agaist those that would destroy
them.
Deployment:
The Garnett is deployed throughout the Inner Sphere in
the garrisons of the various House armies, mercenary
units, and Periphery Kingdoms. In fact, the only areas of
the Inner sphere where you can't find Garnetts in service
are the Capellan Confederation, and the St. Ives Compact,
who placed the original order for the 'mech.
