ComStar ROM reports to the Star League Defence Forces
regarding the new Clan Jade Flacon BattleMech paint the
second line machine as more important for it's possible
political ramifications that it's actual combat value. Not that
it's a weak design, but rather that the Wolfling could be
viewed as a direct slap in the face of the Wolves. Or as a
back handed compliment. An excerpt from an intercepted
transmission between two unidentified Clan Wolf officers
shows that even they are confused.

"You are ordering me to seek out second line 'Mechs
to waste my ammunition on?"
"Aff. Take your star towards that depot at Epislon and
engage any forces you find."
"You will force us into a Circle of Equals Star Colonel.
There is no rational reason for such an order."
"I am not in the habit of explaining myself to junior officers.
If you wish to challenge me in a Circle then it is your
option. Know however that we believe that Epsilon is
guarded by some of those wretched Falcon Wolflings. I
want them destroyed."
"Should we not capture them? The design would make a
fitting addition to our Touman, and I think...."
"Enough talking Star Captain. They are an affront to our
great Clan. Even the name taunts us. You will go to
Epsilon and you will destroy any 'Mechs you find or I will
have you in a Circle of Equals before mid day. I have
made myself clear, quiaff?"
"Aff Star Colonel. You have made yourself clear."

ROM has offered no opinion on what message, if any, the
Falcons are trying to send with this scaled down version of
the Mad Cat / Timber Wolf. While it seems unlikley that
SLDF troops would encounter any Wolflings in the
forseeable future, any League friendly forces that choose
to raid Flacon holdings are warned to beware the 'Mech's
long range hitting power. To date the Falcons have
refused or defeated any attempt by other Clans to gain the
design. Thus at this time none should be expected on
Clan Wolf or Clan Ghost Bear occupied worlds.
Capabiltities:
Also included in the transmisison were specs for the
Wolfling. This mechs name is surprisningly descriptive.
Mounting twin Lrm 20's and 2 Er large lasers the fifty ton
mech has formidable long range ability. A pair of medium
pulse lasers back up this deadly weapons package. The
mech is identical to its heavyer parent design the Timber
wolf or Mad Cat, the same in every respect except the
lower armor avalable to mount on the chassis. With such a
formidable desing in a mech 2/3'ds the weight clan rules
of engagement should be weighed before commiting to
single combat.
