The Gatekeeper was an early clan design, built by clan 
smoke jaguar almost a century ago.  Most have been 
locked away in Brian Caches, but with the inner sphere 
invasion many were taken out of storage and refitted with 
new clan technology.  Designed as an ultra maneuverable 
firing platform, the gatekeeper can dispense an impressive 
amount of damage at all ranges.

Capabilities:
The Gatekeeper's main weapon is the left torso mounted 
gauss rifle, which it uses freely at long range, given 2 tons 
of ammunition to spend.  Backing up its long-range 
capabilities is the right torso mounted LRM 20 launcher.  
The LRM 20 launcher utilizes the Artemis IV missile 
guidance system to increase the accuracy of the weapon. 
 When used in tandem with the gauss rifle, the two 
weapons can have a devastating effect.  In extreme 
ranges, the Gatekeeper can bring into play its ER Large 
Laser, and when used with the heat efficient gauss rifle, 
overheating is of little worry.  The Large Pulse laser 
compliments the ER Large Laser in that it is useful against 
fast moving targets while the ER Large Laser is more 
useful against slower moving targets.  At close ranges the 
Gatekeeper can employ a single head mounted ER 
Medium Laser and twin torso mounted ER Small Lasers.  
While these weapons make it dangerous to advance 
towards, its usual purpose is fire support.  Using its quad 
design for maximum maneuverability it helps it to stay out 
of the way of larger mechs.  Against smaller mechs its slow 
movement is sometimes seen as a serious flaw, but since it 
can deal large amounts of damage at all ranges it is 
usually not a problem.

Deployment:
The Gatekeeper saw heavy action during operation 
bulldog, when clan smoke jaguar was falling.  Since then it 
has, however, seen moderate use in other clans and in 
several inner sphere units.  No doubt a good piece of 
salvage.
