The TRQ_SE3 Turquoise origionaly named the Crossbow
was designed to be a heavy fire support mech capable of
going toe to toe with any assault mech. When it was in
development the prototype mech wore an unusual blue
coat of paint and was nicknamed "Turquoise" by its
design team. Soon the nickname had spread to all
departments of the mechs construction including the
managment, who officially changed the mechs name to
Turquoise.
Capabilities: The heavy ammo dependency of the
Turquoise is its biggest flaw, once it has used its 12
rounds of ammunition it has only a token medium laser for
defence, leaving it vulnerable. Few mechwarriors,
however, care to wait until that happens. When the
Turquoise does run out of ammunition it usualy retires from
the battle. While its slow speed makes it vulnerable to
faster mechs and makes it difficult to withdrawl when its
ammo is gone, its Pratt and Whitney 670 jump jets give it
much improved mobility in rough terrain where it performs
excellently. Its Armor is among the heaviest possible,
coming only a half of a ton away from the formidable
Awesome. With its dual LRM 20 launchers and quad
SRM 4 launchers placed on a rotating shoulder actuator
the Turquoise is allowed near full offensive power in either
its front or back.
Deployment:
The Turquoise was thought to have been produced only
in small numbers before the Amaris Civil War until a cache
of well worn Turquoise were found in an asteroid belt in
ComStar territory. There have been rumors that in 3021
ComStar sold over a dozen Tuquoise to different houses.
However, ComStar still holds the largest cache of these
Starleague era mechs.
