The Battle Fury Omnimech, in all its battlefield prowess, is
vulnerable in the use of the bulky 320XL engine. While
this allows it to carry many weapons, the price for this
package is over 18 million C-bills, a costly penny indeed.
So Pheonix Armaments Limited devised a new Omnimech
based on the variants of the Battle Fury except that it
mounts an Strand 255 standard engine. This makes the
mech cheaper. However, to mount sufficient weapons to
compete with the Battle Fury, the Top speed was reduced
to 54 kph.
Variants of the Shirotachi are essentially the same as the
Battle Fury. In place of the bulky XL engine from the
Battle Fury, dual heat sinks are in fixed installations in the
right and left torso. While the presence of ammo on the
Shirotachi gets pilots jittery, Dual CASEs in both torsos
ensure that the mech can continue to fight in the event of
an ammo explosion. The added benefit of mounting a
Standard Engine is the icreased battlefield longevity. The
Shirotachi has been proved to survive after the loss of
both arms and torsos and still be a viable opponent.
Deployment:
The SHIR-O-1T Shirotachi Omnimech has served in many
engagements in the ongoing inner-sphere / clan wars.
One instance occured in the recent Jade Falon attack on
the planet Coventry. Stationed with the a garrison unit on
the planet, the Shirotachi suddenly came under attack by
a Night Gyr Prime. The intense ERPPC fire from the clans
combined with the Ultra Autocannon fire began to dig
deep furrows into the torsos and arms of the Shirotachi
Primary. When in range, the Shirotachi responded in kind.
The outcome of the ensuing battle saw the complete
destruction of the Clan Night Gyr. The Shirotachi,
however, escaped doom missing both of its arms. The
Right Torso's internal structure collapsed caving in on the
Double Heat Sinks.
Variants.
The Primary Variant is a direct copy of the Battle Fury's
Prime variant with an added ER medium laser in the
Center Torso.
The Alpha variant is another variant borrowed from the
BF-1-O. The two LRM-15s and two SRM-6s are mounted
in the arms to provide Long and Short Ranged misile
support. 2 Large Lasers and 6 medium lasers are added
in the event of ammo shortages.
Configuration Bravo is equipped with a C3 Master
Computer to coordinate C3 lances and companies alike.
For firepower, a Gauss Rifle and 2 ER Large Lasers are
added for Long Range. 4 Medium Pulse Lasers are
mounted in the Left Torso to round out the Bravo Variants
weaponry.
The Charlie variant is basicaly a slower, more heavily
armed PTR-4D Penetrator. 2 ER Large Lasers are
backed up by 6 medium lasers. 2 Streak-6s are backup
weapons when ranges become not so distant. Each
launcher is supplied with a ton of ammo apiece. However,
since Streak technology is extremely ammo efficient, it is
rare that each ton will become drained
The Delta Variant is a departure from the Battle Fury in
that it is completely ammo dependent. A Gauss Rifle is
mounted in the Right Arm supplied with 3 tons of ammo.
As Secondary weapons two MRM-30's are mounted in
each torso. Each MRM-30 is supplied with 16 shots
apiece, that's two tons.
