Submitted to the SLDF Quartermaster Corps as a premier
assault mech to supplement their Assault Lances. The
AGM-1ON Agamemnon is designed around its bulky Vlar
300XL engine. The Standard Chassis and Standard
Armor that this mech carries facilitates easy repair. The
AGM-1O Agamemnon is equipped with Dual CASE
systems to protect the pilot from ammo explosions. To
augment the colossal mass of the Agamemnon, an
unprecedented 53.0 Tons of Pod Space is available.
Variants:
The Primary variant comes equipped with 2 Norse Storm
Gauss Rifles. Each Gauss Rifle is equipped with 3 tons of
ammo each. 7 Medium Lasers augments the Gauss
Rifles. 2 SRM-6 systems are added to each torso to
complete the weapon load.
Configuration Alpha is equipped with one Norse Storm
Gauss rifle and 2 Kreuss PPCs for Long Range Firepower.
Medium range is covered by a MRM-30 system. 6 ER
Medium Lasers are available for Short Range protection.
Configuration Bravo is an improvement on the Alpha
variant. Two ER Large Lasers are installed with a
MRM-40 system. An Ultra AC-20 is installed in the Right
Arm with 3 medium lasers and 1 medium laser to
supplement the autocannon.
Configuration Charlie totes a Norse Storm Gauss Rifle as
it's primary armament. Designed as a missile support
system, the Charlie Variant carries two Artemis IV equipped
LRM-20s. Each of these systems are equipped with 3
tons of ammo apeice. As backup weapons two ER
Medium Lasers in the Center Torso Pod. A C3 Master
Computer is onboard as a Command Mech for heavy C3
lances/companies.
Configuration Delta is meant as an upgraded battlefield
support vehicle much like the Stalker. 2 LRM-20s and 2
Large Lasers are meant for Long Range. While lacking a
powerful Short Range armament, 2 SRM-6s and 2
ER-Medium Lasers are available at ranges under 210
meters. 3 Jump Jets are added for increased mobility.
Deployment:
As with most Pheonix Armaments Limited's Omni's, the
Agamemnon is used by the SLDF and many major houses
in the Inner-Sphere. It's hunched-over gait strike's fear in
the hearts of its enemies. Most variants are ferocious
infighters with impressive weapon loads maximized for
damage at range. Very few instances have occured
where the AGM-1ON has been destroyed. Disabled yes,
but rarely destroyed. The Agamemnon's achilles heel has
been the use of the XL engine. Ammo too is another
problem. While the CASE system is installed in both of the
Right and Left Torsos, even one explosion of a ton of
ammo will cripple the engine thus disabling the mech.
Although most wrecks of the AGM-1ON are recoverable
and reusable due to the damage isolation, there are
occurences of XL engines exploding due to the lack of
shielding. The final and most important drawback of the
Agamemnon is the phenominal cost of the mech coming
with a price tag of over 30 million C-bills. As a result the
Agamemnon has been deployed to those who can afford
the cost of a devastating mech such as this. To solve this
problem, designers at PAL promise that another 100 Ton
Omnimech without an XL engine will be available soon.
Though not able to carry as many weapons, the Halberd,
as it is being called (named after a Pole-Axe style
medieval weapon), will still be able to keep up with its
cousin.
